Troubleshooting Guide for Offline Sensor Relay
Updated over 4 months ago

The AlertAQ™ water and A/C intelligence platform will notify you if your Sensor Relay loses its connection to our system, triggering Offline Alerts. Follow these steps to get your Sensor Relay back online.

Understanding Offline Sensor Relay

When a Sensor Relay goes offline, it can impact companion sensors that rely on it for communication. For a list of potentially impacted companion sensors, visit the AlertAQ Alerts page and click on the offline sensor alert.

Tips to Improve Connectivity

To ensure optimal connectivity for your Sensor Relay, position the antenna in the direction of the nearest cellular tower and avoid obstructions such as metallic and cement walls. Placing the sensor or antenna near a window or on higher ground can also enhance signal strength. Additionally, Alert Labs offers extension antennas for better positioning; speak to the Support team or your Sales Representative for more information. Install the Sensor Relay indoors, above ground level, on a shelf, or mounted to the wall using the provided mounting plate. Choose a location where the sensor cannot be easily unplugged and ensure it is within 500 ft. (150m) of the companion sensors it supports.

Sensor Status Lights

The lights on your Sensor Relay indicate its status:

  • White: Sensor is starting up

  • Red: Sensor is searching for a connection

  • Magenta/Purple: Sensor is updating firmware

  • Green: Sensor is connected and communicating with AlertAQ™

By following these guidelines, you can improve the signal strength and connectivity of your Sensor Relay, ensuring it remains online and fully functional. For further assistance, please contact our Support team.
