Recalibrating a sensor

Learn how to recalibrate your sensor after a water meter change or rollover to ensure accurate readings.

Updated over a week ago

If the water meter on your property has been changed or rolled over, you will need to recalibrate the sensor. To do so, please follow the steps below:

What Does "Meter Rolled Over" Mean?

When a water meter "rolls over," it means that the meter has reached its maximum reading capacity and reset to zero. This can happen with older mechanical meters or digital meters that have a set maximum limit. When this occurs, the meter starts counting from zero again, which can affect the accuracy of your sensor's readings

Steps to Recalibrate the Sensor

  1. Log in to AlertAQ: Access your account by logging in to AlertAQ.

  2. Navigate to the Sensor Tab: Click on the "Sensor" tab located in the left panel.

  3. Select the Sensor: Choose the sensor you wish to recalibrate. This will open a right-side panel.

  4. Open Settings: Scroll down to the "Settings" section and click on it to open the settings page.

  5. Review Calibration: Click on the "Review Calibration" option.

  6. Redo Calibration: A right-side panel will open up. Here, you will see the "Redo Calibration" option. Click on it.

  7. Unselect Keep Calibration Box: Make sure to unselect the "Keep Calibration" box since you are restarting the calibration and do not need to keep the old calibration points.

  8. Upload Calibration Photo or Water Bill: Upload a photo for the calibration or select "Water Bill" to upload the readings directly from the water bill.
