The AlertAQ™ water and A/C intelligence platform will notify you if your sensors lose their connection to our system. These are called Offline Alerts. Read on below for tips about the best way to get your sensors back online.
Cellular Sensors, including Sensor Relays, Flowies, and Sentrees
Companion Sensors, including Flowie-Os, Floodies, Humies, and Shutties (Battery and Plug-In versions)
Offline Cellular Sensors
When a cellular sensor is offline, it can also impact the companion sensors that use that cellular sensor for communication. For a list of potentially impacted companion sensors, visit the AlertAQ Alerts page and click on the offline.
Cellular sensors connect to the nearest cellular tower. We recommend positioning your antenna in the direction of the tower to improve connectivity. Range depends on building layout and materials the signal needs to pass through. Try to avoid metallic and cement walls if possible. Positioning the sensor or antenna near a window is often beneficial.
Alert Labs also has extension antennas available for purchase. If interested, please speak to the Support team or your Sales Rep.
Sensor Relay
To ensure an optimal connection, install Sensor Relay indoors, above grade, on a shelf, or mount to the wall with provided mounting plate. Place in a location that prevents the sensor from being unplugged. Ensure the sensor is placed indoors and within 500 ft. (150m) of companion sensors that it is supporting.
Flowie (indoors)
To ensure an optimal connection, install Flowie indoors, within distance of an outlet. When installing Flowie below grade, we recommend using an Alert Labs extension antenna for better positioning options. Locations with below grade, in ground, and outdoor water meters should also consider switching to Flowie-O.
Offline Companion Sensors
Companion sensors require an Alert Labs cellular sensor, such as the Sensor Relay, in order to communication with the AlertAQ™ platform. Please make sure that you have an installed, registered cellular sensor nearby with a green LED.
Companion sensors can connect to a cellular sensor up to 500' (150 m) away. Range depends on building layout and materials the signal needs to pass through.
Offline sensors may require a site visit to manually reset the sensor. With companion sensors, that usually involves temporarily removing a battery for 5-10 seconds, and then putting it back in.
The lights on your sensor will let you know their status. In general,
White: sensor is starting up
Red: sensor is searching for a connection
Magenta / purple: sensor updating firmware
Green: sensor is connected and successfully communicating with AlertAQ™
Flowie-O
For installations in hard-to-reach locations, like deep outdoor pits or mechanical rooms, Alert Labs offers Flowie-O Extension Cables available for purchase.
