Shuttie (Battery) requires four CR123 batteries. We recommend Energizer or Panasonic brand.
Here's a quick video about changing the batteries for Shuttie:
Or here's the step-by-step guide for how to change the batteries in your Shuttie:
Locate your Shuttie: It is typically kept in an upright position attached to a pipe.
Unlock and Detach the Plastic Part: Pull out the small silver pin to unlock the device. This allows you to pull the plastic portion off the pipe. The locked part of your Shuttie will remain in place on the pipe throughout this process.
The Battery Section: Next, identify the battery compartment on your Shuttie. It's recognizable by a sticker on the side where the batteries are located. The shape of the battery compartment is akin to a rounded square.
Open It Up: Using a Flathead or Philips head screwdriver, open the battery compartment. The compartment lid should pop open easily with the correct tool.
Remove and Replace Batteries: Once it's open, the batteries should just pop out. Note the orientation of the old batteries - the positive ("+") side is down. Replace the batteries by placing the new batteries in the same way as the old. The battery compartment sticker should also illustrate the correct alignment of the batteries.
Close the Battery Section: After the new batteries are inserted correctly, put the battery lid back on. The lid is designed to fit in only one direction, so ensure it's aligned to sit correctly before trying to close. Once aligned, close the compartment.
Seal the Device: Once the lid is secured properly, seal the battery compartment thoroughly. Ensure this is done correctly to prevent any potential damage to the batteries or the device.
Test Device: After the batteries are replaced and the device is sealed, the Shuttie should perform a test rotation that ensures its opening and closing mechanism is working effectively. If it's successful, then your new batteries are installed right.
Attach device back onto the pipe: Put the Shuttie back onto the other half on the pipe. Before doing so, ensure that the silver locking pin is pulled out to avoid blocking it from fitting properly onto the pipe.
Ensure Secure Fit: Push the Shuttie down all the way to make sure it's securely fitted. Ensure the two separate components of the Shuttie are closed together correctly; otherwise, the silver locking pin won't latch properly.
Lock the Device: With the Shuttie in place and tightly sealed, insert the pin back into the locking mechanism to secure it.
That’s it! You've successfully changed the batteries in your Shuttie. If you're ever having trouble, please don't hesitate to contact us through chat or by email at hello@alertlabs.com to ask for assistance.
