Scheduled High Water Usage

Suppress alerts for scheduled, expected high water usage

Updated today

Some water usage is expected at different times of the year, like running your irrigations system in the spring and summer or flushing out lines at your property. You shouldn't get high water usage notifications for water you're intending to use. That's why we're proud to have Scheduled High Usage, so planned activities won’t trigger unnecessary notifications.

The Scheduled High Water Usage feature suppresses Leak and High Water Usage notifications during the scheduled periods of expected or planned high usage such (e.g. irrigation systems or line flushing).

Create schedules that tell AlertAQ™ when higher water use is expected, along with a flow rate threshold for each schedule. You can set multiple schedules per location and define active date ranges, so suppression only applies when you need it.

This feature can be enabled by the location or by the individual water flow sensors.

Not sure what Flow Rate to use? Review historical data to find the typical usage, if available. If unavailable or still unsure, reach out to the Alert Labs Support team after the next scheduled usage for further guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set a schedule?

  • Navigate to the Location or Sensor Settings page.

  • Under General, click to expand the Water section.

  • Find and enable "Scheduled High Usage".

  • Set the name, the expected water usage flow rate, and the regular schedule.

  • If it is a smart system or otherwise ends after variable lengths of time, enable Early End Detection (more below).

  • Use "+Add Schedule" to set up more schedules.

  • Hit Save when complete.

Can I set multiple schedules?

Yes. Use the "+ Add Schedule" option at the bottom of your schedules to add more.

Can schedules overlap?

No. You cannot have overlapping schedules. If you try to set an additional schedule that contradicts an already existing one, you'll receive an error notice and won't be able to save the new schedule.

What if I don't know the Flow Rate?

You'll need to review historical data to find the typical usage, if available. You can view past water consumption within AlertAQ™ if you have a Flowie O. This is in the Insights section. If unavailable or still unsure, reach out to the Alert Labs Support team after the next scheduled usage for further guidance.

How does Early End Detection work?

If the scheduled high water usage does not start within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time or if it ends before the scheduled end time, leak and high water usage notifications will no longer be suppressed.

Do I have to set this every year?

No, the schedule will repeat annually during the start and end times you set for as long as you leave the feature enabled.
